If you’re anything like me, trying to be healthy is incredibly intimidating. It seems like we’re always being told how everything is poisonous or tampered with or if it’s not, there’s some reason we shouldn’t include it in our diet. The food that we should buy is so far out of the average person’s price range that it feels like you could never even afford to be healthy. There’s an ever-evolving list of things we should and shouldn’t do. Something one person swears by, another claims kills you. There’s always some pill or a powder that they promise will fix all of our problems. In a world where we have so much information at our fingertips, it seems finding the real answer has never been so complicated. So what do we do about it?
My personal deep dive into health began 6 years ago and has never stopped. Now what exactly started me on this process is something we can dive into later but for now I think we focus on what we do about this predicament. With every year that passes, health becomes more complicated. So what do we do to simplify it?
The food industry has made big changes in the last 100 years. Previously, the average family ate seasonally (something that seems so foreign now when you think about it). Their diet consisted of mostly fruits, vegetables, and meat all sourced from their own homestead or from a local farm nearby. For thousands of years people never stressed about making sure they had the newest powder or took the right mix of pills and yet, more often than not they were healthy.
I believe health is far more achievable than we think and the best way to achieve it is by focusing on simplicity. Now I’m not saying everyone needs to move off the grid and only eat food that they grow. I’m also never going to claim that taking all these magic powders or pills and going to the gym multiple times a day is the best option either. I believe the truth is found somewhere in the middle and is a little different for every person. On this blog I’m going to share what I’m deciding to do for my health and honestly, we’re going to find out if it works. No crazy diets or counting calories or macros. Just living the way people have for thousands of years. I’ll share recipes I’ve tried (let you know if they’re any good or not) and focus on keeping things simple in all areas of my life.
